Bright Bear Laser Works has been closed for a while, but we’re getting closer!
There’s just still a lot to be done. I moved to a new space in late 2021, and everything has been taking much longer than I had hoped. Things are speeding up a bit. I have the lasers hooked up and operational, and I recently insulated the attic above my workshop, so it’s not a hundred degrees in there all day long. But I’m still stepping over wires and tools all the time, and have a lot of improvements to make.
And, ultimately, I just haven’t been in a rush to get back to work. I’m enjoying using this time off to do home improvement and work on hobbies. I promise the store will reopen soon! But I want to be in a place where I’m ready to give it my full attention.
I’m also in no rush because the issue with my lumber prices hasn’t gone away. The wood I use, Baltic Birch plywood, comes from Russia and around the Baltic Sea, and prices have increased as much as 500% since the war in Ukraine began. I’m anxious for that conflict to be resolved. I think we all are.
I’m hopeful that I can start taking orders in a month or two, and get a good number of orders processed in time for Christmas. That’s always a big milestone, and I’d hate to miss another holiday season.
Send me a message at barry@brightbearlaser.com, and I’ll add you to my list of people to email once the shop reopens. Thanks for your patience!
