RDI Chest 6: Extra Card Box and Bonus Tokens

Back to main instructions page

Extra Card Box Assembly

  • Base Plate, Two Walls (Y), Rear Wall (Z), front wall with RDI logo
    • RDI logos go on the outside of the box, and the engraved slide track goes on the inside.
    • Apply glue along the edges and fold up into a box. Clamp or secure the box while the glue dries.
  • Trim Pieces
    • Apply the longer side trim pieces first. These go along the top and bottom of the side of the box.
    • Then apply the front and rear trim pieces. The top front piece has a wide cutout, matching the shape of the front wall. Line those cutouts up as accurately as possible.
  • Sliding Lid
    • The lid slides into place along the engraved tracks, and should not be glued down.

How to use the extra pieces

  • The extra card box is future-proofing for the chest. As more characters are introduced, my expectation is that you’ll move your massive collection of Drink cards to this extra deck. I recognize that it’s not optimal to carry a separate card box, but the chest is as large as it can possibly be; there’s just no more room inside. Anyway, this shouldn’t be an issue for several more years.
  • The round ‘The Pot’ token is stored in the front of the upper deck. This gives you an obvious place to stack the gambling pot, keeping it separate from the Inn’s gold. This also helps future-proof the chest; if another character with Adonis-sized tokens is released, you can discard this token and open up that space for the character tokens.
  • The gambling tokens can be stored in their token box. If you have the gambling tokens from Campaign Coins, the token box is large enough for those, too. When a round of gambling starts, everyone put their ‘I’m In!’ token in front of them, then turns it to ‘Out’ when they leave the round. That helps keep track of who can be skipped over.
  • I find the ‘In Control’ token useful when teaching gambling to new players. When you take control, you physically take In Control. If it’s your turn to play, and you still have In Control, you win. Even with experienced players, it can be a useful reminder.
