Apply glue all over the engraved side of the piece, then stick it to the rear wall of the chest, on top of the lower platform.
Engraved text goes against the wall.
Wood glue is recommended.
Left and Right Walls (W2 and W3)
Apply glue all over the non-engraved side of the piece, then stick it to the left/right wall of the chest. Check the text engraved on the pieces to ensure you have left and right correct.
Engraved text faces outward.
Wood glue is recommended.
Be sure to get some glue around the four small holes for the side handle screws.
Ensure that the bottoms of all walls are flat against the platform, with no gap at the bottom.
Front and Center Horizontal Dividers (W4 and W5)
W4 goes in front and is reversible. W5 goes in the center, and is not reversible; check the engraved text on the piece.
Apply some glue to the tabs on the sides of the divider. White glue is fine.
Insert the tab on one side into its slot on the wall, then push near the middle of the wood, bending it and sliding it along the other wall until the tab pops into place.
The bottom of the divider needs to remain flat against the platform, or the tab won’t line up with the slot.
Rear Horizonal Divider (W6)
Apply glue to the two small tabs on the right side, and insert into the right wall. The left side will be secured by divider W7 next.
Center vertical divider (W7)
Look at the engraved text on the platform, and find the column with ‘7’ marked on it.
Apply some glue to the tabs and slots of this divider, then slide it down into that 7 space. The rear wall and the three horizontal dividers all need to fit cleanly into this piece.
Try to slide it directly down from above. If it becomes tilted, it can be difficult to get everything to fall into place. Don’t be afraid to pull it out completely and make another attempt.
The front edge of this piece is flat. Apply a little glue along this edge to hold the divider to the front of the chest.
Leftmost rear divider (W8)
This piece has four tabs on the bottom, and is not reversible.
Apply some glue to the tabs. For the center slot, only apply glue along the side with engravings.
Slide it down into the space marked ‘8’ on the platform.
More dividers (5 of W9, 10 of W10, 2 of W11)
These are not reversible. The two-inch long tab always goes toward the rear.
You know the drill; check the platform for the correct slot, apply glue to tabs and slots, and slide down into place.
W10 and W11 have no front tabs. To ensure the width of the slot is correct, you have some pieces marked ‘Narrow Slot Guide’ and ‘Wide Slot Guide.’ Place one notch of the guide on a divider that you know to be correct (such as pieces 7 or 9) and the other notch on the divider you’re gluing in. Be sure not to glue the guides to the dividers.
Let dry thoroughly.
Inspect the box to make sure all the pieces are flat against the platform, all the tabs went into their slots on the base, and the tops of all pieces are level.
Check your spacing again with the guides.
Check for loose connections, and apply more glue.
Save your Slot Guides for assembling the upper tray.
