Your nameplates are left loose, so that you can choose how you want to order them. Just dab a little white glue along the edges of each nameplate, and slot it in place.
Murgath’s Blessings and Spyke and Flower’s Treasure Deck are stored separately from their characters. Evil Pooky’s Doppelgangers are also stored separately, but they just use a standard-size nameplate and can go in any standard slot.
I personally keep my decks organized in release order, after dividing them between standard and wide characters.
Available spaces:
- Lower Card Tray
- Row 1: Large Cards, then 9 wide spaces
- Row 2: 9 wide spaces
- Row 3: 12 narrow spaces
- Row 4: 12 narrow spaces
- Upper Card Tray
- Rear Row: Treasure, then 8 wide spaces, then Blessings
- Middle Row: 10 standard spaces, then Otto
- Front Row: Up to 7 wide spaces, then up to 2 standard spaces, then a small blank space for future use. (Both a blank nameplate and an Otto nameplate are included.)
- Including Melvyn, Evil Pooky, RDI8 and Nerodia, not including Otto, but reserving a standard space for Doppelgangers, there are 31 standard characters and 25 wide. (As of March 2021) That leaves 3-5 standard slots and 3-8 wide slots, depending on how you place your dividers.
A few small nameplates have mandatory locations. (Front, rear, left and right are as if you were opening the chest in front of you.)
- Large Cards goes in the rear-left corner of the lower card tray.
- Blessing (Murgath) goes in the top tray, rear row, far right.
- Treasure (Munchkin Treasure Deck) goes in the top tray, rear row, far left.
- Otto (Munchkin, Smorgasbox) goes in the top tray, middle row, far right. If Otto receives more decks in the future, you can either add another Otto slot in the top tray, front row, far right, or else place Otto in a standard-size deck slot (there’s a nameplate included for that).
Do you want to carry the Rogues and Warriors deck from the Gambling, I’m In! or Smorgasbox expansions? If so, then the Rogues and Warriors nameplate goes in the front row, right side, across two standard deck slots. If not, then insert divider 26 there to create two standard deck slots.
The next decision is how much space you want to devote to your Drink Decks. Five nameplates are included, taking up 1-5 wide deck slots, as well as one for a standard deck slot. Depending on whether you sleeve, what kind of sleeves you use, and how many promos you’ve collected, your Drink Deck storage needs may vary.
- 5 wide slots: All drink decks and a good number of promos
- 4 wide slots, 1 divider: All drink decks, not many promos
- 2-3 wide slots, 2-3 dividers: Just carry your favorite 3-5 drink decks
- 1 wide slot, 4 dividers: Carry your favorite 1-2 drink decks
- 1 narrow slot: Carry your favorite 1 drink deck with some promos in it
Eventually, you’ll probably want to keep your drinks in the card box you received along with your order, and leave the chest just for characters. That’s a decision for the future. Glue your Drink Deck nameplate in with white glue, so you can snap it out and put a new one in later.
Campaign Coins Storage
Campaign Coins can be stored in the lower token tray, directly behind the knobs.
Campaign Coins In/Out markers can be stored in the ‘Gambling Token’ box. Discard wooden Gambling tokens to make more space.
Other premium/collector’s edition items don’t have designated spaces; too much variance in who does or does not have those items. Often you’ll be able to replace the original items, or perhaps store the item in the unused double-size token tray.
The special Silver Knuckles prize from Ripsnarl’s Kickstarter does fit in the Prize Box, but it takes up a lot of the space.
